Dr. Deza Speaks about Medical Issues in MMA
Julius Park and Jon Delbrugge were on hand at Franklin Square Hospital to assist Dr. Veronica Deza with her talk on “Medical Issues in Martial Arts.” Dr. Deza is the mother of Aiden and Madeline who are both involved in our Childrens Martial Arts Program. We gave a short demonstration on MMA techniques and submission holds so the doctors would be more familiar with the mechanics of injury prevalent in MMA.

Dan Simmler Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Seminar
Posted on April 30th, 2009 14 comments
Matt Serra Brown Belt, Dan Simmler came to Baltimore to teach a seminar at Crazy 88 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Dan is one of America’s most decorated grapplers and it showed as he showed “one of the most functional seminars I’ve ever been to” (real quote from one of the participants).
He not only went over the gripping system he uses but showed some of the Judo throws and techniques that he has been using since he began training Judo w/ Jimmy Pedro. He then transitioned to some top game stuff that he is known for.
Overall, it was a fantastic seminar and even better was that the proceeds were going to the Boys & Girls Club in Massachusetts that provides low-income children with martial arts training opportunites.

Paul Schreiner Pt 2
Posted on December 11th, 2008 No commentsPaul “El Technico” Schreiner came back to the Baltimore area for another seminar. This time he covered Butterfly Guard passing and a submssion attack from each control position post-pass. Once again, it was super-technical and definitely gave everyone more stuff to work on.

Felipe Costa, our good friend from Rio, gave another great seminar at Crazy 88. The Black Belt World Champion showed techniques and explained concepts from the top position. Like always, it was very informative! Make sure to keep your eyes on YouTube for the latest technique videos from this seminar and others that we have hosted.

Thanks to Paul Schreiner!
Posted on August 23rd, 2008 No commentsJust wanted to say thanks to Paul “El Technico” Schreiner for an awesome seminar. Despite being a Black Belt, Paul remains a true student of the game and it showed in his teaching. He went over his token Closed Guard (of course!) and then covered a multitude of finishes with the LITTLE details he has picked up over the years. The clock choke variation itself was worth the price of the seminar.
We will definitely be bringing Paul back as it seemed that we only scratched the service of what he knows.
-Sorry, no obligatory fist-up group photo-
