Tye Ryan Murphy defeats Yuji Okamura (Ralph Gracie Mountain View) on a 2-2 judges decision.
Tye Ryan Murphy wins 2nd match (3rd round) on another judges decision 0-0.
In the Final Four, Tye was up 2-0 against Owen Gould (Gracie Humaita) but fell prey to a clock choke with 30 seconds on the clock! A disappointing ending but at least he qualifies for the Open division later on today and got himself a US Open Bronze medal!
First match of the Open, Tye is victorious 6-0! Second round loss by 7-0 forces Tye out of the Open division.
Joshua Baudour (Claudio Franca) submits David Zwanetz via triangle.
Kwami Mensah loses 4-0 on a last second back take.

U.S. Open XIV Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu- Day One
Posted on October 17th, 2009 No commentsAge Skill Weight Result Jon Delbrugge Adult Purple Belt Middle-Heavy (<194.5 lbs) 2nd Open 1st Crazy 88 was back in the California this weekend, this time in the Bay Area for the US Open – one of America’s longest running BJJ tournaments. In the first match of the weight class, Jon “Devastator” Delbrugge submits James Wright (AKA / Guerilla Jiu Jitsu) with a bow-and-arrow choke after a 7-0 lead.
Jon wins semifinal match also by choke from the back, after racking up 9-0 lead versus Jacob Montalvo (Harlingen Jiu Jitsu). Into the finals he goes!
Jon takes a Silver at the US Open of BJJ. Great job! Jon lost a 0-0 (4-2) match to Tryfon Stathopoulos (Gracie Humaita) in the finals. Open is coming up!
Jon submits first opponent in the Open via Breadcutter.
Jon enters final of US Open Purple Belt Open division with a 6-0 semi-final victory. It was a rematch with Tryfon Stathopoulos (Gracie Humaita) from the Middle Heavy finals! Sweet revenge! Tryfon had defeated the always tough Nate Mendelsohn (Claudio Franca) in the quarterfinals 4-2.
Jon wins Purple Belt Open. Scoring 12 points before getting the Breadcutter submission! The 14th US Open of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu’s Purple Belt Open Gold medal is coming back to Howard County, Maryland!

Julius Park and Ryan Hall Close Out US Open XI
Posted on October 21st, 2006 No commentsAge Skill Weight Result Julius Park Adult Purple Belt Lightweight (<167.5* lbs) 1st / 2nd Julius and teammate Ryan Hall flew out to Santa Cruz, California for the US Open. The US Open has a reputation as one of the oldest and best-organized Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournaments in the states. The competition was tough but Julius & Ryan managed to win all their matches, 2 and 3 respectively, to close out the Purple Belt Lightweight division.
